About Gibsons Photography

Established 1952, we're one of the UK's most experienced studios. We've worked for an impressive list of clients; Amstrad, Marks and Spencer, GKN, Metal Box to name just a few. We've photographed film stars, glamour girls and royalty, but we've always been affordable for hard working regular people.

Ron Gibson began his career as a professional photographer in the era of black and white, glass negatives and incendiary flashguns. He soon gained a reputation for creativity, quality and attention to detail. While his first jobs were mainly weddings, the East End has always been a hive of industry and he soon acquired many business clients. Then he moved into the studio at 97 Lower Clapton Road in 1953 and began offering portait services.

Ron's pictures recorded the social and economic development of East London. We're very pleased many are now archived on Flickr for future generations to study and enjoy.

Neil Lewis arrived in 1980 from Ken Bray's studio to work as assistant photographer. Ken was president of the British Insitute of Professional Photography so Neil was familiar with prestige assignments. Soon, Ron took him into a partnership which lasted until Ron's retirement. Neil maintains the quality and service on which Ron built his reputation, and has also innovated to keep Gibsons relevant.

Gibsons was among the first to adopt digital photography, combining modern and traditional methods. Entering our 60th year, we still offer an unrivalled range of high quality products and services.

When you need a photographer, think Gibsons!
